1930s Futuristic Cityscape by duraluminwolf

A little doodle I did of an imaginary 1930’s “retro-future” skyline. The plane flying in the foreground is a “Mystery Ship” Some people have said that this looked like something from the old black-and-white comedy/musical film, Just Imagine.

Another “OMG! Whoah!” drawing from Sant’Elia. This was done in the 1910s probably.

A lot of vintage depictions of futuristic cities involved these elevated roads supported by and passing through skyscrapers. The idea is pretty impractical, but it looks awesome

Metropolis of Tomorrow

Avatar

Sweet pictures of futuristic cities!

We are, of course, heavily indebted to architect visionaries like Hugh Ferriss and his Metropolis of Tomorrow, after which this tumblr was entitled.
